IRRV Excellence in Innovation (I.T) Gold Award 2013
Jacobs were delighted to win the Gold Award in the prestigious 2013 IRRV (Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation) Performance Awards. Jacobs received the Gold Award in the category of Excellence in Innovation (I.T), putting them in the record books as the first Enforcement Agency to win first place throughout the history of the awards.
Jacobs’ submission in this category was based on Aneris Perform, which is the performance reporting application of Jacobs’ business management system Aneris.

Aneris is designed to link and harmonise all internal systems and processes, providing a complete management system for all business activity. The focus of our system is quality and performance, ensuring that routines are automated and that all functions and outputs can be measured effectively.

Seeking continuous improvement in every aspect of our service delivery, it became clear that clients required more meaningful performance management information that was easy to access, read, and understand at a glance. We wanted to completely change and revolutionise the way in which we reported performance, but there was nothing available in the marketplace. We therefore designed and built the system – with our clients, for our clients.

Aneris Perform is unique and exclusive to Jacobs, having been fully designed in-house by Ben Quinn, our Systems Development Manager. He led the project (which took over 12 months to complete), working closely with the Client Management Team to ensure that all client requirements were captured.

Development faced many challenges, as it not only involved the extraction and manipulation of data from our debt recovery system, OneStep, and historical data archives, but it also involved identifying and working with new and innovative technologies.

With the IPad being the latest technology used by our Enforcement Agents, we decided to build the software for use as a mobile application. This means we can offer enhanced presentations and greater data mobility. As such, the Client Management Team are able to present a whole host of graphical and data charts in a live environment at client review meetings.

The key features of Aneris Perform:

- Over 16 interactive charts and data views
- Real time data extraction
- Offline capability - no internet connection required
- Multiple debt type analysis
- Previous year to date performance comparisons
- Detailed supporting information and forecasts
- Instant data selection and creation of PDF with email facility

Ben commented: “From the initial concept stage of the project through to the implementation and release, Aneris Perform has been an exciting and challenging development that we have always believed would create a new standard of performance management in our industry. We are delighted that it has truly delivered this vision to our clients, and to receive this accreditation confirms that it is fit for purpose and that we are driving change for the benefit of our clients”.

Jacobs made an initial written submission for the IRRV Awards in April 2013, followed by a site visit from the IRRV judges, which was a very comprehensive audit, inspection and verification process.

Jacobs were subsequently announced as finalists and were very proud to provide demonstrations to delegates at the IRRV national conference in early October.

Simon Jacobs, Partner, said: “We are extremely pleased to win the Gold Award at such a highly professional and prestigious event. There were many high quality entries in this year’s Excellence in Innovation (I.T) category, so to win Gold demonstrates an outstanding achievement for the Jacobs team. The application is innovation, and the creation of more meaningful and transparent performance information that is easy to read, access and understand at a glance allows clients and Jacobs to make informed decisions, set new initiatives and strategies to improve collections year on year”.
