Jacobs have been appointed to work in partnership with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council for the collection of Local Taxation, Parking PCN Warrants, and all Corporate Debt. The new contract has been awarded for up to 4 years and will commence shortly.

The appointment follows a detailed and comprehensive formal procurement exercise undertaken under the Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation (YPO) established Dynamic Purchasing System.

Paul Kelly, Client Services Director, said:

“We are delighted that Barnsley, a large and progressive authority, has selected Jacobs to partner their collection of all outstanding debt to the Council. We are very experienced at collecting both Local Taxation and Parking Warrants and providing a corporate debt approach, including all miscellaneous and Housing Benefit Overpayment debt. This appointment, through open competition, demonstrates that we lead the market through innovation, collection performance and excellent accredited customer service. We are looking forward to building excellent working relationships with the teams, customers and all stakeholders”.

The YPO framework provides public authorities with a gateway to the marketplace, and can significantly reduce workloads.

Bethan Lewis, Head of Public Sector Procurement at Jacobs, commented: “The Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation’s DPS is now in its 2nd year, and is proving to be a successful platform for Local Authorities to simplify their procurement process. It runs until the end of March 2017. Utilising the DPS provides assistance in tailoring further mini competitions to an individual authority’s requirements”.
